Camp Boggy Creek, inspired by the heartfelt poem "A Dolphin" written by South Florida teenager Jennifer Masi, has been a beacon of hope and joy for children with serious medical conditions since its founding in 1996. Jennifer's vision, supported by co-founders Actor Paul Newman and General Norman Schwarzkopf, along with her parents, Nick and Wendy Masi, and David Horvitz, brought this magical place to life.
A Place of Joy and Healing:
Located just a short drive from Orlando, Florida, Camp Boggy Creek spans 232 acres of beautiful tall pines and majestic oaks. This camp offers a safe, medically-sound environment where children with chronic or life-threatening conditions can enjoy a life-changing camp experience. Since its inception, the camp has served over 90,000 campers and their families, providing them with a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and grow.
Our Partnership with Epilepsy Alliance Florida:
Each year, Epilepsy Alliance Florida proudly sends children with epilepsy to Camp Boggy Creek. This partnership allows children to experience the joy, adventure, and fellowship that the camp provides, all in a supportive and understanding community.
Camp Activities:
Campers at Camp Boggy Creek can immerse themselves in a variety of activities designed to foster fun, adventure, and independence.
ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
Fishing: Catching fish in the camp’s serene lakes.
Archery: Learning to shoot arrows and hitting targets.
Woodshop: Creating projects and crafts.
Performing Arts: Taking to the stage to perform and express creativity.
And Much More: From swimming to nature walks, there’s something for everyone
MEDICALLY SAFE ENVIROMENT:
Our medically safe overnight summer sessions ensure that all campers receive the care and attention they need. With a dedicated team of medical professionals and volunteers, we create an environment where children can focus on fun and friendship, rather than their medical conditions.
BUILDING FRIENDSHIPS AND MEMORIES:
Beyond the activities, Camp Boggy Creek offers a unique opportunity for children to meet others who share similar experiences. This fellowship helps remind campers that they are not alone in their journey, fostering lifelong friendships and a sense of community
APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE:
Campers aged 7 through 17 can apply to attend Camp Boggy Creek free of charge. However, due to limited space, it is essential that interested families apply and are accepted into the program. Each year, only a certain number of children are selected to ensure a personalized and impactful experience for all attendees.
